Library & Research
The Library’s collection continues to update a variety of annual publications, and major titles as new editions are produced.
The law library is funded with grants from the Law Society of Ontario (LSO), and administered through the Legal Information & Resource Network (LIRN). It is located on the main floor of the Kenora Courthouse at 216 Water Street. It is operated by the Kenora District Law Association (KDLA) through an elected Board of Directors and its Library Committee.
The library has an excellent collection of books, Canadian and British reports, Canadian and Ontario legislation, selected journals, and continuing legal education materials. KDLA members are permitted to self check out any physical copies of these items from the library. While we do not maintain a stand-alone database, our library catalogue is maintained by the Great Library. If you have any questions regarding what we have in stock at the Kenora library, please contact the librarian directly who is available to assist with finding specific material, as well as research requests.
KDLA members are welcome to use the library at any time. Non-KDLA members can use the library while the librarian is present. The library has two workspaces with desktop computers that are available for use, as well as free Wi-Fi. Printing is available in the library for a small a fee. A conference table is also available for use. Zoom court or other meetings are not to be conducted in the law library, as this is intended to be a quiet space for research and writing.
